The 2020 Census is more than a population count. It's an opportunity to shape the future of your community. Through your many channels, your voice can make a difference.
Once every decade, the U.S. Census works to count every person living in the United States. Every Michigander needs to be counted because census numbers affect everyone in Michigan - including seniors, students, kids, parents, businesses and communities. Money allocated by the Census makes up a large portion of state budgets and goes to programs for under-served communities, including many people that participate with NEMCSA's many programs. NEMCSA has recently received grant funding to assist in the outreach and marketing for the upcoming census and will make it a priority to be out in the communities providing information and answering questions about the Census. To assist with this efforts, NEMCSA welcomes a new face to the agency.
As the new Census Project Coordinator, Kellie Wasikowski is excited to dive into the NEMCSA service area and work with communities for the 2020 Census count. She is looking forward to using her community engagement skills in NEMCSA’s core 11 counties to work towards a full Census count that maintains critical dollars in the region.
