HeartCorps is a Public Health AmeriCorps initiative designed for individuals eager to jumpstart their careers in public health. As a HeartCorps Service Member, you will be at the forefront of efforts to improve health outcomes in rural areas, where residents face significant challenges. People living in these regions often have a shorter life expectancy—on average, three years less than their urban counterparts—and higher rates of heart disease and stroke. This disparity is further exacerbated by a critical shortage of healthcare professionals, making access to care a constant struggle.
But this is where you come in.
As a HeartCorps Service Member, you’ll have the opportunity to make a tangible difference by supporting, developing, and implementing essential health programs. Whether you’re helping to educate the community about high blood pressure, ensuring nutrition security, promoting CPR and cardiac readiness, or assisting with smoking cessation efforts, your work will be vital in creating healthier, stronger communities.
This is more than just a service position; it’s a chance to be a changemaker. You’ll be working hands-on, directly impacting the lives of those who need it most, while also building your own professional skills and networks in the public health sector.
