Senior Bullying Reduction Training

Below is a training schedule for a program developed by Region 9 Area Agency on Aging Long Term Care Ombudsman through the Prevent elder abuse, Exploitation, Neglect (PREVNT) initiative. Funding provided by a grant from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Aging and Adult Services Agency.

Senior-to-senior bullying is recognized as a common issue in many settings, yet staff often feel helpless to intervene. These workshops will demonstrate the significant impact of senior-to-senior bullying, define bullying, and differentiate these behaviors from other interactions.

In the general session, the presenter will describe a staff training program that includes individual interventions and culture change activities which enhance the well-being of residents and senior consumers, while reducing the incidents of bullying.

In the Train-the-Trainer Sessions, attendees will leave with a kit to be able to train others on how to reduce senior-to-senior bullying. This course is approved by the Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative for 3.5 CE hours. (Approval #053118-05)
