Welcome to Region 9 Area Agency on Aging's Website!

Since 1974, we have been honored to serve and advocate for older adults, caregivers, and adults with disibilities living in the twelve counties of northeast Michigan: Alcona, Aplena, Arenac, Cheboygan, Crawford, Iosco, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle, and Roscommon. We strive to support their independence, dignity, and quality of life by providing services and supports to meet their goals.

About Us

The Region 9 Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is one of several divisions within Northeast Michigan Service Agency, Inc. (NEMCSA). We provide quality planning, programs and services to individuals, families and communities through the best use of human and financial resources. To carry out our mission, the agency brings together federal, state, and grant funds as well as dollars from local, private and public sources that aid individuals. NEMCSA is a private, non-profit Community Action Agency—part of a state and national network. 

NEMCSA was designated as an Area Agency on Aging in 1974 by the Michigan Aging and Adult Services Agency. As such, it serves the twelve counties of northeast Michigan: Alcona, Alpena, Arenac, Cheboygan, Crawford, Iosco, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle, and Roscommon. These twelve counties comprise over 6,800 square miles.
