Attendance

Research shows that there is a direct correlation between a child’s success in school and regular attendance.  Children are expected to attend their Center or Group Experience on a regular basis.  If something is preventing your child from attending Head Start/Early Head Start/GSRP, we will help you explore all options to resolve this issue.

Center or Group Experience

Your child should be kept at home if he/she does not feel well.  We do not want to spread colds, flu, or other communicable diseases.

5 reasons your child may be too sick for school:

  1. FEVER
    • Temperature greater than 100.4 degrees taken oral/ temporal/ under the arm/ rectal.
  2. DIARRHEA/VOMITING
    • Runny, Watery or Bloody Stools.
    • Nausea and vomiting.
  3. RASH
    • A body rash accompanied by a fever.
  4. COUGH/SORE THROAT
    • coughing that causes a child to get red or blue in the face or makes high-pitched whooping sound after coughing.
    • Sore throat with fever.
  5. OTHER CONDITIONS
    • Eye or nose discharge: thick mucus or pus.
    • Yellowing of the skin or eyes.
    • A change from the child's baseline health.

In the case of a child’s illness, home visits can be done with parents/guardians only.  Please contact your home visitor when your child is sick.
