In-Home Services:
Care Management: This service is designed to locate, mobilize and manage a variety of home care and other services needed by frail elderly persons aged 60 and older at high risk of premature nursing home placement. To learn more, visit the Care Management webpage.
MI Choice Waiver Program: This program is a long-term care option for those age 60+ or adults 18 years of age and older who are eligible for a nursing facility level of care. To learn more, visit the MI Choice Waiver Program webpage.
Nutrition Programs:
Congregate Meals: This program is provided in partnership with senior centers that provide daily, nutritionally-balanced meals. Meals are offered to adults aged 60 or older on a donation basis.
Home Delivered Meal Program: If you are a home-bound senior or unable to cook your own meals, the Home Delivered Meal Program may be for you. A meal driver will deliver a hot or frozen meal to your door. The meal provides some of the daily nutrition needed to help older adults remain independent.

Other Programs and Services:
Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP): This program is a community service and work-based training program that promotes economic self-sufficiency for older workers by providing part-time employment at the current minimum wage. Participants are placed at a variety of non-profit or government agencies. Training is provided to help you gain the skills needed to obtain work outside of the program. Long-Term Care Ombudsman: This program provides information and education to families and individuals about long-term care facilities and services. The program actively works to improve the long-term care system by representing the interests of long-term care residents and monitoring the development of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies. The Ombudsman and Ombudsman volunteers act as liaisons between residents, care providers, and the state regulating agency. To learn more, visit our webpage Long Term Care Ombudsman Program.
State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP): This program provides free, confidential counseling and assistance for people with Medicare. To learn more, visit our webpage State Health Insurance Assistance Program.
MI Options Program/Person-Centered Options Counseling (PCOC): This program is an interactive, unbiased, decision-support process that helps individuals make informed choices about long-term services and supports, focusing on their preferences, strengths, and values. PCOC assists individuals on how to best pair personal resources with home and community-based services and resources. To learn more, visit our webpage MI Options Program.
Kinship Care Program: This program is for relative care providers caring for related children. If you are age 55 or older and caring for a related child under the age of 18, this program may be able to help you with expenses such as recreational activities, school supplies, clothing, needed furniture, and more. Caregiver Programs & Services: Region 9 Area Agency on Aging provides an array of services and programs for caregivers in our service area.
