Consider becoming an AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteer and joining a network of wonderful volunteers serving in your community. We have three programs available to best suit your interests and circumstances.

Make a difference in someone's life and learn how to volunteer with AmeriCorps senior programs (Foster Grandparent Program and Senior Companion Program).

Become a Classroom Grandparent and provide support and one-on-one attention to students. Help foster a love for learning that can leave a lasting impact on a child's education.  

Offer companionship to residents who may not have daily visitors in nursing homes. 

The School Success Partnership Program is a FREE prevention program that identifies students at-risk for academic failure. Students are referred to the program by school staff, community agencies and parents with a common goal for the child—SUCCESS!

The School Success Partnership Program works WITH PARENTS to create relationships between home and school that can be lifelong.

As part of the Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency, the School Success Partnership Program has been in operation for 31 years. The community-based program services school-aged children and youth from Pre-K through 12th grade who are at risk for academic failure.

The Region 9 Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is one of several divisions within Northeast Michigan Service Agency, Inc. (NEMCSA).

Care Management (CM) offers people options to remain independent and living in their own homes. 

MI Choice is a program that provides an array of Medicaid-covered nursing home services to anyone age 18 or older so that they can remain in their home with the same level of service.

In-Home services are critical in helping Older Adults to continue to live safely in their own homes.  These services provide assistance with activities of daily living for Older Adults who may have difficulty with bathing, dressing, meal preparation, and housekeeping. 

Local senior centers are focal points for providing these daily, nutritionally-balanced meals. Meals are offered to adults aged 60 or older on a donation basis. By enjoying a meal at the senior center, you will also have an opportunity to socialize with your neighbors and peers. There are no income guidelines for participation.
