NEMCSA’s Heidi Powers Honored with the 2024 "Rita Katzman Vision For Volunteers Award"

We are delighted to share that NEMCSA’s very own Heidi Powers, FGP/SCP Project Director, has been chosen as the recipient of the 2024 "Rita Katzman Vision For Volunteers Award." This prestigious award, given by the Michigan Association of Foster Grandparent & Senior Companion Programs (MAFGSCP), recognizes outstanding leadership, dedication, and a tireless spirit in supporting senior volunteers and communities.

Heidi has been a member of MAFGSCP since 2016 and is known for her unwavering commitment to bringing people together, fostering participation, and ensuring the continued success of volunteer programs. Her remarkable positivity and unique perspective make her a vital asset to our organization and the senior volunteer programs across the state.

In addition to her work with NEMCSA, Heidi serves as Chair of the Outreach Committee and has been instrumental in leading efforts to prepare for the 2025 Older Michiganians Day. She is also known for organizing and hosting incredible conferences, including the one held in Alpena, MI, where she brings together experts and advocates for the program’s growth and impact.

Heidi’s influence reaches far beyond our 12-county region, making her an invaluable part of the Michigan senior volunteer community. We are so proud to see her honored with this award, which highlights her dedication to improving the lives of seniors and volunteers across the state.

Congratulations, Heidi, and thank you for all that you do!
