What Is It?

The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is a federally-funded, low-income residential energy conservation program. The program provides free home energy conservation services to low-income homeowners and renters. These services reduce energy use and lower utility bills.

What Happens if I qualify?

A trained inspector will assess eligible dwellings for energy conservation needs. A typical inspection will include Blower Door testing for air leakage and a Health and Safety inspection. This energy audit is conducted on your home to determine cost effective measures to be installed such as adding insulation, air sealing around windows and doors, duct sealing, and performing a furnace clean & tune among others. A contractor will come out to complete the work that is ordered. A final inspection will be completed to verify installation of appropriate measures.

Why Should I Apply?

According to national studies, households that receive weatherization services can expect heating costs to be reduced 20 to 25 percent. As fuel costs continue to rise, even greater savings will result.
