Intake still processing referrals and applications remotely and responding to any client issues. Face to face interaction between clients, contractors and NEMCSA staff has been suspended per direction of the Department of Energy. Staff no longer able to perform Weatherization role have been temporarily assigned to assist Food Programs while also completing desk work and training relevant to their role within Weatherization.

What Is It?

The Weatherization Assistance Program is free to low-income home owners and renters. Services provided reduce energy use and lower utility bills.

  1. Introduction to Weatherization and Client Education
  2. Basic Health and Safety inspection
  3. Testing of appliances for efficiency and safety
  4. Testing of Combustion Appliance Zone for safety
  5. Inspection of the exterior of the home
  6. Inspection of the interior of the home
  7. Blower door test- see below for an example of what this looks like.

Why Should I Apply?

According to national studies, households that receive weatherization services can expect heating costs to be reduced up to 25 percent. As fuel costs continue to rise, even greater savings will result.
