Point-In-Time (PIT) Count Taking Place January 28, 2026

On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the Point-In-Time (PIT) Count will take place across Northeast Michigan. This is a federally required, annual effort to better understand homelessness in our region and ensure individuals experiencing housing instability are not overlooked.

What Is the Point-In-Time (PIT) Count?

The PIT Count is a one-day snapshot that helps identify individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness, including those who are unsheltered. The information collected helps communities:

  • Understand local housing needs

  • Improve outreach and support services

  • Allocate resources more effectively

  • Secure federal funding to address homelessness

The PIT Count is about visibility, dignity, and access to support.

How the Community Can Help

Community members play an important role in ensuring the count is accurate and inclusive.

If you are aware of:

  • Individuals sleeping outside

  • Encampments or tents

  • People staying in vehicles, campers, or abandoned buildings

You can help by reporting locations so outreach teams can safely and respectfully connect with individuals during the count.

To report information, please call: 989-358-4678

Providing exact locations (such as cross streets or landmarks) is especially helpful. We ask community members not to approach individuals directly, as trained outreach teams will follow up.

All reports are confidential and used only for outreach and planning purposes.

Self-Reporting: Your Experience Matters

For individuals who may be experiencing homelessness, self-reporting is available for those who wish to share their situation.

If you are currently:

  • Sleeping outside

  • Staying in a tent, car, camper, or abandoned building

You are invited to self-report during the extended self-reporting period.

Self-Reporting Period: January 28 – February 3, 2026
Call to self-report: 989-358-4678

Sharing your experience helps our community improve housing and support services. Participation is voluntary, confidential, and does not impact benefits.
