Enhancing quality of life by empowering individuals and strengthening communities.

Caregiver Corners

Caregiver Corner

Region 9 Area Agency on Aging partnered with 29 local libraries (see partnering counties below) to provide family caregivers with resources, tools, and information. Each partnering library has available for checkout caregiver books, dementia toolkits, iPads, and dementia DVD sets. Dementia toolkits help stimulate conversations, keep care recipients engaged, and trigger memories.

The goal of the Caregiver Corners is to improve the quality of life for those with dementia by educating and supporting their caregivers, increasing access to reliable information, reducing caregiver stress, and helping minimize caregiver burnout by providing a break for caregivers, as their care recipient enjoys the environment of the library.

Partnering Libraries by Counties:

Alpena, Alcona, Cheboygan, Crawford, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, Montmorency, Presque Isle, and Roscommon.
