Nutrition Program

Nutrition Programs

Congregate Meals

Local senior centers are focal points for providing these daily, nutritionally-balanced meals. Meals are offered to adults aged 60 or older on a donation basis. By enjoying a meal at the senior center, you will also have an opportunity to socialize with your neighbors and peers. There are no income guidelines for participation.

Home Delivered Meals

If you are a home-bound senior or unable to cook your own meals, the Home Delivered Meal Program may be for you. A meal driver will deliver a hot or frozen meal to your door. The meal provides some of the daily nutrition needed to help older adults remain independent.

Donation rates are posted at each senior center. Some senior centers require advance reservations for the meals to ensure enough food is prepared. Participants under age 60 must pay the posted full cost of the meal. Click here for a list of meal sites.

MI Café

Region 9 AAA partners with Elder Law of Michigan to bring the Michigan Coordinated Access to Food for the Elderly Program to Northern Michigan. The program provides benefit application assistance to seniors that will help them make ends meet and put healthy food on their tables.  Click here for more information.
