Turning Hope Into Action — NEMCSA's 2025 Year in Review

We're excited to share our latest episode featuring Frances Ommani, Strategy & Development Director at the Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency (NEMCSA). In this conversation, Madison and Amanda sit down with Frances to walk through NEMCSA's Fiscal Year 2025 Annual Report, a powerful look at the collective impact of one of northeast Michigan's most vital community organizations.

2025 by the Numbers

This year, NEMCSA served 14,213 individuals across the region through programs addressing early childhood development, housing stability, senior care, youth services, and more — backed by approximately $76 million in funding from federal, state, and local sources.

Other highlights include:

  • 1,992 children enrolled in Early Childhood Services
  • 7,953 people served through Aging Programs
  • 5,310 students supported through School Success Partnership Programs
  • 134,550 volunteer hours contributed, valued at $4.68 million
  • 900+ community partners engaged across the region

A Year of Growth and Innovation

Beyond the numbers, 2025 marked a year of meaningful expansion for NEMCSA. The organization launched the Child Care Back Office (CCBO), a collaborative initiative designed to help childcare providers across northeast Michigan stay sustainable and fully operational. They also partnered with Presbyterian Villages of Michigan to open PACE Northeast Michigan in December 2025, a transformative new program helping seniors age with dignity and independence.

NEMCSA was also recognized as a Detroit Free Press Best Workplace — a testament to the culture and commitment that drives their work every day.

Why This Episode Matters

At the heart of every statistic in this report is a real person whose life has been changed. From Mandi, named Michigan Community Action Client of the Year after overcoming homelessness and domestic violence, to Edwin, who found stable housing after living in his vehicle, NEMCSA's work is about people, plain and simple.

Frances brings that human perspective to this conversation, sharing what it takes to build and sustain an organization that truly serves its community.
